Every two years, the district sends out a survey to parents. Billed as an attempt to learn what we think, it is a narrowly focused, manipulatively designed, multiple choice questionnaire, which leaves little room for real expression of opinions. Yet even within that format, some things are clear. On every question related to open communication, the PISD ranks low, and seems to be getting worse in the eyes of parents. This is increasingly true the longer those parents have had kids in the district. Here at the USP, we welcome your opinions. It has been said that we are "too critical." Yet there is no shortage of praise for PISD. The district has its own PR department. We welcome either praise or criticism here. We do not welcome "puff" pieces. We will not publish official PR. We want to hear from real people who important things to say.
