Standard 4
Finding 4.2

"Testing and assessment services are inadequately stafffed to provide a data base sufficient for improvement of program effectiveness."

All emphasis has been added by the USP editors.

"Board policy doesn't specify a comprehensive program of assessment for all aspects of the curriculum."

"Practice is incongruent with some of the policies on assessment."

"District goals are not linked to assessment. Procedures for measuring attainment of the goals are not specified."

"Programs are implemented and continued, but often are not evaluated."

USP editors' comment: Integrated curriculum is one example. The Dallas Morning News quoted Asst. Supt. Marilyn Brooks as saying she had "no intention" of evaluating the results of integrated curriculum before expanding it. Without assessment, we do not have pilot programs. We have auto-pilots.
