Standard 2
Finding 2.3

"Curriculum development, adoption, implementation, and revision are not guided by a coherent process and are inconsistently approved by the Board of Trustees."

All emphasis has been added by the USP editors.

"Auditors found no single document or collection of documents containing the essential elements of a sound curriculum development plan and only parts of an effective structure were in use. These findings led auditors to conclude that the district did not have an adequate curriculum management structure."

"The district was effectively without a formal, written curriculum development process."

USP editors' comment: Remember this next statement whenever a board member assures you that they even understand the curriculum. It seems clear that administration has no interest in involving our elected representatives in curriculum decisions, and our elected representatives have little interest in involving themselves.

"May 15, 1990 was the last time that curriculum documents had been formally submitted to the board."

"In summary, auditors found no systematic plan for curriculum development, adoption, or revision, and concluded that the district did not have a sound structure for curriculum control."
