| "Monitoring of instruction for improvement is uneven across schools." |
Auditors point out that it is critical for a district to monitor curriculum at all levels, and that such monitoring is the responsibility of central office curriculum personnel ad building principals. Examination of PISD revelad that there is no apparent, district-wide system for monitoring curriculum.
"In a growing district that is already considered a major school district according to size, consistency and continuity for quality instruction become even more critical district-wide."
USP editors' comment: In other words, with over 40,000 students all headed eventually to one of three senior high schools, it would be nice to know, with a reasonable level of assurance, that they have all been taught the same things before getting there. PISD cannot provide that assurance.
