Political Action Committees
The euphemistically named "Keep Quality in Plano Schools (KQUIPS)" is currently the only registered PAC in the Plano Independent School District. Formed in November, 1994 as a result of their opposition to a "moral values resolution" passed by the school board in August of that year, this group has been praised by the ultra-liberal People for the American Way, and is associated with Texas Freedom Network. They consistently oppose conservative candidates and initiatives, and their president, Nancy Machen, is a well-known Democrat. The group can only be characterized as liberal. They can be counted on to endorse whatever candidate or policy the district administration favors. They are perhaps best known for their extremely negative, dishonest campaign tactics.
